Mokume-Gane Belt Knife

This is a hand forged belt knife, with a distinct hamon and a stabilized spalted maple handle. The guard of this knife is made from mokume-gane, which is a distinct material made by layering copper and nickel silver. The blade is flat ground, and is a through tang construction, meaning the blade extends through the handle to the pommel. The pommel is polished brass and is peened in place. The handle is made from stabilized spalted maple and walnut. Spalted maple is maple that has developed unique dry rot, which creates black lines and white patches in the wood. It is epoxy stabilized to improve its strength and hardness. This knife comes with a sheath, which is made from high quality tooling leather, and is stamped with a basket weave pattern. The sheath is lined on the inside, and has a belt loop and retaining strap.
